Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 4, 2026
1. Overview
Patito ("we", "our", "us") operates patito.dev and the patito CLI tool. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By using patito, you agree to this policy.
2. Data we collect
- –Account data: email address, hashed password, and account creation timestamp.
- –Device identifiers: a randomly generated device ID assigned on CLI installation. This ID is not linked to your machine hardware.
- –Impression data: device ID, ad ID, and timestamp for each ad displayed. Used exclusively for revenue attribution.
- –Payment data: PayPal email address, provided only when you request a withdrawal.
3. Data we do not collect
We do not collect, read, or transmit any terminal content, command history, AI prompts, AI responses, file paths, or any other content from your coding session. patito reads only the status bar state (active/idle) from the supported CLI tools.
4. Advertiser access
Advertisers are shown aggregate impression counts only. No device IDs, account information, usage patterns, or any personally identifiable information is ever shared with advertisers.
5. Data retention
Account data is retained as long as your account is active. Impression data is retained for 24 months for billing and audit purposes. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
6. Security
Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage. Impression data is transmitted over TLS. We do not store payment card information — withdrawals are processed via PayPal.
